Join Kitty Hawk Kites, Grandfather Mountain and The Rogallo Foundation at Grandfather Mountain on July 21 and 22 to celebrate the sport of Hang Gliding and the first flight off of Grandfather Mountain.
The reunion welcomes Pilots from over the years to share in story telling, hang glider displays, comraderie and also to honor the memory of Hugh Morton, former owner of Grandfather Mountain, for his friendship and support of the sport of hang gliding.
Event Schedule:
Saturday, July 21
9:00am- 6:00pm
The event is open to the public to learn more about the sport of hang gliding and some of the history of Hang Gliding at Grandfather Mountain. At 12:15pm, there will be a Boulder dedication in honor of John Harris’ first flight off of the mountain. Throughout the day, there will be talks, stories, slide presentations, a tour of the mountain and lots of laughs as we remember the flights at Grandfather. More information will be forthcoming regarding the schedule of events for the day.
Sunday, July 22
Fly In at Tater Mountain

There will be a short meeting at Grandfather Mountain on Saturday regarding flying at Tater on Sunday. If you cannot make it to Grandfather Mountain on Saturday, you should contact Bubba Goodman ahead of time by calling him at 828 773-9433
