FRANCIS ROGALLO HONORED WITH A HISTORY WALL

Nags Head, NC (June 2009) - Kitty Hawk Kites presented a history wall to Dr. Francis Rogallo on Sunday, June 14, 2009, in honor of Dr. Rogallo’s lifetime dedication to improvements in aviation over the past several decades.

Dr. Rogallo and his family viewed the wall for the first time during the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday. The wall, presented by the Rogallo Foundation, an organization developed by John Harris, was designed by Jessie Zimmerman and consists of nine panels outlining the accomplishments of Dr. Rogallo, a retired NASA scientist and inventor.

The wall is located on the north side of the Kitty Hawk Kites building in Nags Head, NC and is open to the public for viewing. It focuses on Dr. Rogollo’s flexible wing, an invention that led to the development of hang gliding, parasailing and other wind-driven sports.
